The Discipleship Pathway at First McKinney: A Path for Spiritual Growth

Following Jesus is a lifelong journey of growing to know Him, to become more like Him, and to help others do the same.

The Pathway at a Glance

The Discipleship Pathway at First McKinney is a simple framework for spiritual growth as we follow Jesus: Worship God, Live in Community, Serve Others, and Make Disciples. Each movement offers practical next steps to help you grow in your relationship with Jesus and live out your faith. Wherever you are in your faith journey, there is a next step you can take.

Why a Discipleship Pathway?

Following Jesus is a lifelong journey, and personal faith growth happens as we intentionally spend time with Him, grow alongside others, and put our faith into practice. Our church discipleship pathway isn’t a program to complete or a checklist to follow. It’s a simple framework that helps us recognize practical ways to grow in our relationship with Jesus and become more like Him.

Most importantly, our growth doesn’t stop with us. As we follow Jesus, He calls us to help others follow Him, too. That’s why the pathway leads toward Make Disciples, while continuing to grow through Worship God, Live in Community, and Serve Others.

The Four Movements

The Discipleship Pathway gives us four movements that help us grow as we follow Jesus. They aren't steps to complete and leave behind. Each one remains an important part of following Jesus throughout our lives.

Worship God

We were created to know and worship God. We gather on Sundays to worship together, hear from God’s Word, and grow in a life of worship that continues throughout the week.

Live in Community

We weren’t meant to follow Jesus alone. Life Groups give us a place to build meaningful relationships, study Scripture, pray together, encourage one another, and grow in our faith.

Serve Others

God gives each of us gifts, abilities, and opportunities to care for others. We grow as we use what He has given us to serve His church, our neighbors, and the nations.

Make Disciples

Following Jesus leads us to help others follow Him. As we grow, we learn to invest in others, share what God is teaching us, and make disciples who can help others do the same.

Grow Through Disciple Making

These four movements aren't stages of faith that we complete in order. They are ongoing rhythms of following Jesus. Wherever you are in your faith journey, there are next steps in faith that can help you continue growing.
