Why Families Choose Us

Why Families Choose Our Church Preschool

Families want a preschool where their children are cared for, encouraged to learn, and surrounded by people they can trust. At First Baptist Learning Center, our Christian preschool brings Bible teaching into the everyday preschool experience, helping children learn biblical truths alongside the skills and experiences that support their development.

Experience also matters. FBLC Director Joanne Eaton has served the Learning Center since 1994, providing decades of consistent leadership and a deep understanding of children and families. Our teachers create meaningful opportunities to learn through play, relationships, hands-on experiences, and exploration.

Together, these commitments create a preschool with Bible teaching where faith, learning, relationships, and thoughtful care are part of each child’s experience.

The care and security of every child are a priority

FBLC maintains the practices below so teachers can focus on caring for children and helping them learn and grow.

  • Controlled building access
  • Established check-in and check-out procedures
  • Staff training and background checks
  • Regularly practiced emergency protocols

Learning Through Play

Learning Through Play — Inside and Out

FBLC’s curriculum is Bible-based and designed around how young children learn best: through activity, choice, movement, conversation, creativity, and hands-on experiences. Monthly themes guide learning stations, stories, music, art, and other creative learning opportunities, while Lifeway’s Levels of Biblical Learning helps teachers introduce age-appropriate Bible stories and biblical truths.

Children are given opportunities to make choices, explore their interests, express their own ideas, and learn through experience rather than simply listening. Learning also extends outdoors, where the outdoor classroom provides space to explore nature, move, make discoveries, and interact with the world around them. This approach to Christian early childhood education encourages children to experience the joy of learning while developing at their own pace.

Kindergarten Ready

Ready for Kindergarten & Beyond

Kindergarten readiness develops throughout a child’s time at First Baptist Learning Center. Teachers plan age-appropriate learning experiences using established Texas early learning and Prekindergarten guidelines, helping children build skills, independence, classroom experience, and positive relationships as they progress through the program.

In Kindergarten, a degreed teacher uses the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) to guide instruction and help children build the academic and classroom foundation for first grade. As an early learning center, FBLC combines these educational standards with a Bible-based approach that considers the development of the whole child.
