The church membership process at First McKinney can begin at Discover First or with a Sunday conversation in the Next Steps Room. Discover First is highly encouraged and gives you an opportunity to learn what we believe, how to get connected, ways to serve, and what membership means. You can also visit the Next Steps Room on Sunday to share your faith story with a minister or lay leader, ask questions, and learn about the next steps to becoming a member.
Church membership at First McKinney is a meaningful commitment to follow Jesus together as part of a church family. It means moving beyond simply attending and choosing to be known, grow in your faith, serve others, and take part in the mission God has given His church.
As a church family, we want to encourage and equip one another to live and love like Jesus and help others do the same. Our pastors and ministry leaders are committed to faithfully teaching God’s Word, caring for our church family, and helping people grow as followers of Jesus. Membership is one way we make a commitment to one another and say, “This is my church family, and I want to be part of what God is doing here.”
Discover First is highly encouraged for anyone considering membership at First McKinney. Held every few months in a relaxed setting, Discover First is an opportunity to learn more about what we believe, how to get connected, ways to serve, and what it means to be a member. You’ll also have plenty of opportunities to ask questions and get to know First McKinney better.
You don’t have to attend Discover First to begin the membership process. On any Sunday, you can visit the Next Steps Room and talk with a minister or lay leader. They’ll listen to your faith story, talk with you about baptism if that step is still ahead, answer your questions, and help you understand what comes next.
Membership at First McKinney is an active commitment to grow together as followers of Jesus. Our Discipleship Pathway helps us understand what that looks like in four areas: Worship God, Live in Community, Serve Others, and Make Disciples.
Put Christ at the center of your life through personal devotion and worship with the church family. Join us for Sunday worship at 9:15 AM or 10:45 AM.
Build meaningful relationships and grow alongside others through a Life Group, where you can study Scripture, pray together, encourage one another, and be known.
Use your time, talents, and treasure to serve God and others. We encourage members to serve within the church, care for our neighbors and community, participate in missions, and give generously toward God’s work through First McKinney.
Intentionally invest in others, helping them live and love like Jesus and learn to help others do the same.
