lift their voices in praise to Jesus.

Worship at a Glance

Worship at First McKinney is Christ-centered and participatory, with our choir, worship team, and congregation lifting their voices together in praise to Jesus. Sunday worship services are at 9:15 and 10:45 AM, with ASL interpretation available during the 10:45 AM service. Our worship ministry also provides opportunities to serve through music, production, and behind-the-scenes roles.

What Sunday Worship Is Like

Sunday worship at First McKinney is Christ-centered, joyful, and participatory. Our choir, worship team, musicians, and congregation lift their voices together in songs grounded in biblical truth, all with one aim: to point people to Jesus. You’ll also hear practical, verse-by-verse teaching from God’s Word that helps us follow Jesus in everyday life.

Our worship services bring people across generations together to worship Jesus because, while music is a meaningful part of what we do, it is never the focus. Music is great. Jesus is greater.

Want to hear some of the music before you visit? Listen to our First McKinney Spotify playlist to hear many of the songs we sing together during our worship services.

Join us Sundays at 9:15 AM or 10:45 AM, and come dressed however you’re comfortable. ASL interpretation is available during the 10:45 AM service.

Why a Choir, and Why Everyone Sings

At First McKinney, singing is something we do together. Our church choir helps lead the congregation, while voices throughout the room join together in praise during each Worship Service. Colossians 3:16 reminds us that as we sing, we teach and encourage one another with the truth of Christ. That’s why congregational singing matters to us.

The choir, worship team, musicians, and congregation join their voices in praise, not to draw attention to themselves, but to point one another to Jesus. Whether you know every song or are simply listening and taking it in, you are welcome to worship with us.

  • Choir

Our church choir helps lead the congregation in worship and is open to everyone middle school age and older. No previous training or audition is required. The choir rehearses most Wednesdays during the school year at 6:30 PM.

  • Band & Vocalists

Vocalists, guitarists, drummers, keyboardists, and other instrumentalists help lead our Sunday worship services. These roles require an audition as we seek to serve God with both heart and skill.

  • Kids & Students

Our Worship Ministry partners with our Kids and Students ministries throughout the year to encourage and develop the next generation of worshipers. Kids and Students with a desire and gifting to lead others musically are invited to learn more.

  • Audio & Video

Worship takes a team beyond the platform. If you have experience with audio, video, lighting, or production, or would like to learn, we can help you find a place to serve.

  • Behind the Scenes

Creativity, woodworking, decorating, preparation, and a willingness to help all contribute to the Worship Ministry. If you enjoy serving behind the scenes, there is a place for you, too.

The Jubilee Choir also takes worship beyond our campus by singing in local nursing homes and sharing the joy of Christ with people throughout our community.

Worship as a Way of Life

Worship God is the first movement of the Discipleship Pathway at First McKinney because following Jesus begins with knowing, loving, and honoring Him. Sunday worship is an important part of that, but worship doesn’t end when the service does. A life of worship means honoring God throughout the week in the way we pray, spend time in His Word, work, serve, love others, and live in response to who He is.

As we gather on Sundays to sing, pray, hear God’s Word, and worship together, we are reminded of the truth we carry with us into the rest of the week.

Christ-centered worship means Jesus is the focus of everything we do. Through congregational singing, prayer, Scripture, and biblical teaching, our desire is to point people to Jesus, remember the truth of the gospel, and respond to who He is and what He has done. Our worship team and musicians help lead us, but the focus is never on the platform. Music is great. Jesus is greater.

Worship extends beyond Sunday into the way we follow Jesus every day. Spending time in God’s Word through our Bible Reading Plan, praying, serving others, and living with gratitude are all ways we can grow in a life of worship.
